Educational technology is the study and practice of designing effective instruction using technology, media, and learning theories. For education student like me, ed tech is really a big help in learning various ways to develop or make my very own instructional materials for my future profession. Although almost everything can be just downloaded,copied, pasted and printed, yet that would not help me grow, learn and progress because relying on google, you tube,  pinterest etc. would just make me become internet dependent which means that I do not even care to make things out from my own idea ,concept and effort. In short it’s not bad to browse and look for some ideas, and information using the internet, but to get everything from it without even revising and altering some part of a material is like stealing somebody’s property and that’s a big NO.

Anyway, let me share with you my experience in Educational Technology 1 class. This semester is kind of productive. Yes, we are able to learn new things and had opportunities to discover our hidden skills. All this time, I have been using the computer in doing the same stuffs: browse, read, encode and save.  Well, that’s the usual role of digital technology to us students nowadays. But now, I can do more than that. Fortunately, our Educational Technology facilitator taught us various ways in doing instructional materials using different types or forms of technology. She generously shared her knowledge to us in a very interesting and fun ways.

Here are the outputs  I made. I am so proud that I have completed all of it. It is really overwhelming to see the fruit of my labor. 

FIRST ACTIVITY : DRAWING using Grid Lines

This is an amazing experience. I never thought I could draw like a pro. And look at the result, it’s like a duplicate of the model.

I picked  this material because it looks simple and easy but it took me an hour to finish this one.

SECOND ACTIVITY: LETTER CUTTING (Small and Big letter)

This was really fun and easy..

Honestly, I can do art crafts but  I have never  tried letter cutting not because I don’t like it but because I don’t know how to do it!  But now, no sweat! 

I chose only two different colors to make it clean and simple

THIRD ACTIVITY:  PHOTOGRAPHY (cellphone camera)

Super fun! Now I know how to take photos like a pro. And this is going to be the most useful craft in my future field of profession (teaching). This is great in making visual aids. I don’t need to grab photos from the net.

FOURTH ACTIVITY: AUDIO RECORDING

I looked for a fable story, studied the characters  and practiced few times before i finally recorded it. I had to changed my voice so that I could imitate the sound of the animal character in the story. This one is perfect for storytelling. You need not to read over and over again . Just plug and play while showing the illustration to the students.

FIFTH ACTIVITY: Making Instructional Video

We were assigned to make a PROCEDURAL video. It should be a step-by-step process of making something. In this activity, we were given an application where we can edit the video that we made to make it more creative and interesting. Video clip is one great instructional material especially if the lesson is broad and can’t be explained shortly.

PREPARE THE MATERIALS NEEDED

SETUP THE TABLE AND THE CAMERA PHONE THAT YOU WILL USE, THEN START RECORDING.
It's better to cut every after procedure/step. My video was about How to make  paper pompoms. I wish I could attach the video that  I made, but I can't.


And that ends my blog about  my Educational Technology 1 class. I really learned so much from this subject. I am looking
forward for the next semester. So excited for Educational Technology 2 .
